"Cabecinha da VJ" – drug trafficking kingpin – arrested in Maré operation
Rio police arrested Thauan da Silva Menezes, known as "Cabecinha da VJ", for drug trafficking in the Maré Complex. Three suspects were killed in a confrontation and over 300 kg of drugs and 12 rifles were seized.

The Rio de Janeiro Military Police arrested, on Monday (28), Thauan da Silva Menezes, known as "Cabecinha da VJ", for drug trafficking association, as reported by cnnbrasil.com.br. The arrest took place during a PMERJ operation at the Maré Complex, in the northern zone of the capital.
In total, 11 other suspects were detained during the operation. Three suspects were killed in confrontation with police officers, and eight of those arrested were wounded. One military police officer was also struck.
The seizures included over 300 kg of drugs, 12 rifles, eight pistols, grenades, ammunition and 42 magazines.
According to police, Thauan was located during the execution of a policing order, when officers identified a motorcycle with two occupants that had left the community. The suspect was taken to the 21st Police Station, in Bonsucesso, and the case was referred to the judiciary.
Policing in the region remains reinforced.
