Civil Police of the Federal District dismantles armed loan sharking scheme across five cities

The Civil Police of the Federal District launched, on Monday 21 September 2026, an operation against a criminal group engaged in loan sharking and collecting debts through serious threats and use of firearms. According to revistaoeste.com, three preventive arrest warrants and seven search and seizure warrants were executed, with the participation of 60 police officers.

The suspects granted loans with interest rates exceeding 20% — far above the legal limits permitted. When victims could not pay off their debts, the group resorted to firearms to intimidate them and force payment.

The organisation operated across five municipalities: Planaltina (DF), Formosa (GO), Goiânia (GO), Formoso (MG) and Buritis (MG).

The investigation originated from Operation Backdoor, launched in 2025, after forensic examination of a seized mobile phone revealed evidence of the criminal group's existence.

In addition to the arrests, the operation provides for the blocking of approximately R$ 6 million, the seizure of luxury cars and the seizure of a property valued at R$ 1 million.
