Prison police officer kills wife by shooting after day of quarrels in Cajamar
A prison police officer was arrested at the scene on Sunday night (27) after shooting his wife dead in Cajamar, in Greater São Paulo, according to g1.globo.com. The victim, Aline Alves Bugni, 31, was shot inside a residence on Rua João de Moraes Tavares and did not survive.
Her husband, Felipe Arthur Bugni, 40, was detained and taken to Cajamar Police Station. The incident was still being handled on Sunday night.
Neighbours reported that the couple had been arguing all day. During a quarrel at night, Felipe allegedly fired shots at the woman. Aline's father called the Military Police after hearing the gunshots.
According to initial information, after shooting his wife, Felipe also assaulted his father-in-law. The victim's father suffered injuries to his face, with nosebleeds, and was taken to hospital.
Aline and Felipe had been married for around ten years and had a six-year-old daughter. Family members reported that Aline had previously told them she suffered violence from her husband and had expressed to close people her desire to separate, but said she was afraid.
At the police station, Felipe alleged that the incident had been suicide. The Civil Police are to investigate the circumstances of the crime and interview family members and witnesses. The case is to be registered as femicide.
The episode occurs in a context of rising femicide registrations in the state. Data from São Paulo's Public Security Office show that in the first quarter of 2026, one woman was killed every 25 hours in femicide cases in the state. There were 86 cases registered in the period — an increase of 41 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2025 and of 72 per cent compared to the beginning of 2022. It is the highest number for a first quarter since the beginning of the historical series.
