Arrests during exam: seven detained for fraud in Rio Grande do Norte Prison Police recruitment test

Seven people were arrested in flagrante delicto on Sunday (13) on suspicion of fraud during the public recruitment exam for the Prison Police of Rio Grande do Norte, as reported by g1.globo.com.

According to the Civil Police, six of those detained are from Mossoró and one from Natal. The cases have similar characteristics, but with distinct forms of cheating in the examination.

In Mossoró, investigators identified evidence of the use of electronic equipment — including electronic listening devices — for receiving answers during the exam application. In Natal, the investigation pointed to the participation of third parties outside the examination venues, who were responsible for solving the questions and transmitting the answers to candidates, also via electronic devices.

The conduct investigated may fall under article 311-A of the Penal Code, which classifies as a crime the improper use or disclosure of confidential content from a public recruitment exam with the objective of benefiting oneself or third parties, or compromising the credibility of the examination. The penalty provided for is one to four years in prison.

The Civil Police reported that investigations were continuing in both cities on Sunday, with the aim of "identifying other possible individuals involved, investigating the possible action of a group responsible for transmitting the answers and clarifying all circumstances related to the fraud".

The operation had the support of the State Secretariat for Penitentiary Administration (SEAP), through the Prison Police, and the State Secretariat for Administration (SEAD).

The Rio Grande do Norte Prison Police recruitment exam offered 260 vacancies and registered over 40,000 applicants.
