Three suspects in the murder of Luís Wendel Batista were arrested on Friday (25) in a joint operation by the Civil Police forces of Pernambuco and Goiás, according to g1.globo.com. Operation Desnós executed temporary arrest warrants and search and seizure orders in Araripina, in Pernambuco's sertão, and in the municipality of São João d'Aliança in Goiás.
The crime occurred on 9 June this year. The victim's body was found at Sítio Inácio, in the rural zone of Araripina.
In Araripina, the 24th Homicide Police Unit (DPH), with support from the Law Nets team, arrested two of the suspects. During the operation, officers seized a mobile telephone that is expected to support the progress of the investigation.
The third suspect was located in São João d'Aliança in Goiás. The capture was made possible following the exchange of intelligence information between the Pernambuco and Goiás police forces, with the Goiás force responsible for executing the arrest in the neighbouring state.
Operation Desnós is coordinated by the 24th DPH of Araripina. According to police, an inquiry is ongoing to clarify the authorship and motive of the murder of Luís Wendel Batista, as well as to hold all those involved in the crime accountable.
