Three murder suspects in Pouso Alegre arrested in Rio Grande do Norte during Operação Potiguar

Arrested in Rio Grande do Norte for homicide with 20 shots in Minas Gerais
Rio Grande do Norte's Civil Police arrested three suspects involved in a homicide that occurred in Pouso Alegre, in southern Minas Gerais, according to g1.globo.com. The arrests were made on Wednesday (23rd) in the cities of Natal and Parnamirim, as part of Operação Potiguar, conducted in support of Minas Gerais's Civil Police.
Three temporary arrest warrants and two search and seizure warrants were executed. The detainees are two women, aged 27 and 28, and a man aged 20.
The crime occurred on 18 January 2026 on Avenida Gil Teixeira in the Jatobá neighbourhood in Pouso Alegre. The victim, a 26-year-old man from Taboleiro Grande in western Rio Grande do Norte, was shot dead in a public street.
Witnesses heard by the Military Police reported that the victim was getting out of a Fiat Siena when a black Ford Fiesta stopped nearby. Two hooded men exited the vehicle and opened fire on him. The initial shots hit the car. The victim tried to flee but was caught and fell. The shooters approached and fired again, with at least six shots hitting the man's head and chest. In total, the victim was struck by approximately 20 shots.
The victim had previous police records, including involvement in a homicide. Investigations continue to identify other possible participants in the execution.
