The rave was practically over at the time of the shooting, but more than 100 people were still on the premises. There he initially fired around 40 shots indiscriminately into the crowd with an assault rifle; at a second location he used a pistol. The authorities seized a Kalashnikov and two pistols from the man's vehicle.
During the night of Monday, the suspect turned himself in to police. He is now in custody pending investigation. The prosecuting authorities have opened proceedings for intentional killing, murder, multiple endangerment of life and violations of firearms legislation.
Immediately after the incident, it was unclear whether one or multiple perpetrators were involved. Police launched a major manhunt, in which German authorities also participated. The scene of the crime is located approximately 25 kilometres south of Bad Säckingen in Baden-Württemberg. (APA)
