Assault in Dübendorf garage: prosecution seeks four years imprisonment and expulsion from country

The Zurich public prosecution service has brought charges against a 21-year-old Frenchman for robbery and further offences, according to tagesanzeiger.ch. The accused must answer to the district court of Uster. The prosecution authority is seeking an unconditional custodial sentence of four years as well as expulsion from the country for seven years.

According to the charges, the trio broke into a property in Egerkingen in the canton of Solothurn in February 2026 and stole a delivery van from there. A subsequent burglary at a car dealership in Wil in the canton of St. Gallen failed, however.

The perpetrators then pursued a Mercedes into a shared garage in Dübendorf, where they forcibly wrested the vehicle from the driver. They fled through the city of Zurich in a westerly direction at partly significantly excessive speed.

Two of the accused were arrested in Oberentfelden in the canton of Aargau after a brief manhunt. The proceedings against the co-accused, who was 17 years old at the time of the offence, have already been concluded by the Zurich youth prosecution service. The third suspect remains at large.

The adult principal accused is also facing charges relating to additional car thefts from the year 2025 in the cantons of Aargau and St. Gallen. Until final conclusion of the proceedings, the presumption of innocence applies.
