Lucerne police shut down a professional outdoor drug cannabis operation in the Rötelberg area in Menznau on 5 August 2026. As Google News CH — Crime (de) reports, three people were arrested in total during the raid.

Two of the three arrested individuals initially attempted to flee. Police dog "Quanto" was able to stop both, as police stated in a statement on Thursday. The arrested persons consisted of two Albanian nationals and a Swiss national, aged between 28 and 42 years.

At the scene, police found a cannabis field covering an area of approximately 1.3 hectares as well as extensive cultivation and processing infrastructure. Analysis of the seized drug cannabis revealed a THC content that in some places was up to twelve times higher than the legally permitted limit value.

In total, criminal proceedings were opened against six people. The investigation is being handled by the Sursee Public Prosecutor's Office. The presumption of innocence applies to all those involved.
