Manhunt following attempted break-in ends with three arrests

Shortly after 4 a.m. on Thursday, three men attempted to break into a firearms shop in Hombrechtikon in Zurich Canton. According to 20 Minuten, the alarm was received at the Zurich cantonal police operations centre shortly afterwards.

At the scene of the crime, the deployed emergency services found evidence of a break-in. During the immediately initiated manhunt, officers spotted a small car without registration plates.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled. Between Wald and Rüti, the emergency services finally managed to stop the vehicle and arrest the three occupants.

The detainees are two French nationals aged 19 and 23, and a 30-year-old Tunisian national. Burglary tools were seized from the vehicle.

The cantonal police forces of St. Gallen and Schwyz supported the Zurich authorities in the manhunt. Following police questioning, all three men were handed over to the public prosecutor's office. Investigations into the course of events are ongoing in collaboration with the public prosecutor's office.
