Swiss newspaper Blick reported that the shots were fired before 03:00 (01:00 GMT), at the margins of the "Aarauer Rave" event — an annual techno party held at the racecourse in Aarau.
The event attracted approximately 3,500 participants and took place on Saturday starting at 15:00, scheduled to end on Sunday at 02:00. The incident "is believed to have occurred at the racecourse," a police spokesperson, Vanessa Rumpold, told Blick.
"Bursts of gunfire", says witness
Rumpold clarified that police can currently confirm that "multiple shots were fired within a large group of people". A witness cited by the same newspaper stated that he heard "bursts of gunfire" at the time of the incident.
According to a later update mentioned in the original source, the toll of the event worsened: one dead and five wounded, with the attackers still at large, according to police.
