One person was killed and five others were injured following gunfire on the night of Saturday to Sunday at the racecourse in Aarau, in northern Switzerland, according to G4Media. The perpetrators have not been apprehended, and the cantonal police launched a large-scale intervention in the area.

The incident occurred before 03:00 local time (01:00 GMT), during the annual "Aarauer Rave" event, a techno music festival that attracted approximately 3,500 people to the Aarau racecourse, held between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

The cantonal police posted on the X network: "Gunfire during the night at an event at Schachen. Multiple victims. Massive police intervention underway. Keep your distance from the area." The institution provided no further details at that time.

Vanessa Rumpold, a police spokeswoman, told Swiss newspaper Blick that the incident "occurred at the racecourse" and that authorities can confirm that "multiple shots were fired into the midst of a large group of people."

The origin of the gunfire remained unknown, according to Swiss public television station RTS. The local press indicated that the ongoing police operation suggested that one or more suspects were still being sought at the time of publication.
