Three Georgian nationals are suspected of stealing a backpack from a service station in Schattdorf on Saturday evening. The Uri cantonal police stopped the trio at the border in Chiasso using video footage.

According to Google News CH — Crime (de), three men stole a backpack from an unlocked vehicle at the Gotthard service station in Schattdorf on Saturday evening. The alleged perpetrators took advantage of an unobserved moment whilst two French travellers stopped at their open boot whilst travelling south.

When the travellers discovered the theft, they immediately alerted the Uri cantonal police. Using video footage, the police were able to reconstruct the course of events and identify a suspected getaway vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently stopped at the border in Chiasso.

The three occupants are two 48-year-old and one 36-year-old Georgian national. The men were provisionally arrested and taken to Uri for further questioning. In the meantime, they have been released.
