One person was killed and five others injured, some seriously, during a rave party in northern Switzerland on Sunday, local police reported.
According to 15min, the incident occurred in the town of Arau, north of Zurich. Shots were fired around 3 a.m. local time (4 a.m. Lithuanian time) near the annual techno music festival "Aarauer Rave", which ran from Saturday to Sunday with approximately 3,500 participants.
Police spokeswoman Vanessa Rumpold confirmed to Swiss newspaper "Blick" that the shooting took place at a racecourse where the event was being held. "Several shots were fired into a large group of people," she said.
One witness reported "bursts of gunfire".
Police indicated on social media platform X that a search for the perpetrators is underway, but noted that the motive for the crime and the exact circumstances remain unclear. Large numbers of officers were deployed to the scene.
