Shooting at rave in Aarau: German woman injured, Italian woman killed
A 22-year-old Italian woman was shot dead at a techno party in Aarau, with five other people injured – including a German woman. The perpetrators remain at large.
Shots fired at techno party: five injured, one dead
Among the injured in the violent attack at a rave in the Swiss town of Aarau is a German woman. This is reported by DER SPIEGEL (Justice & Crime) citing the Aargau Cantonal Police, which made a statement late in the evening via news agency Keystone-SDA. The four other injured are Swiss men aged 24 to 31.
All five injured – with injuries ranging from light to serious – were taken to hospitals. During the attack in the early hours of Sunday, a 22-year-old Italian woman who lived in the region was also killed.
One or more perpetrators fired numerous shots from at least two weapons. According to police statements, they continue to search intensively for those responsible. The motive has not yet been established; the authorities have ruled out neither a terrorist attack nor a shooting spree nor a settling of scores in criminal circles.
At the time of the shooting, there were well over 100 people on the premises – rave visitors were in the process of heading home. In addition to Swiss authorities, investigators from nearby foreign countries are involved in the investigation. Aarau is located in the canton of Aargau, approximately 40 kilometres west of Zurich.
