Victim of Rave Shooting in Aarau Identified as Italian Woman
A woman with Italian citizenship has been killed in a shooting at a rave in Switzerland. This is reported by The Local Switzerland citing a statement from the Italian Foreign Ministry on Sunday.
The ministry said it was sending embassy staff to the scene near Zurich to "closely monitor the investigation". Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis also called his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani to express his condolences.
The shooting occurred in the early morning hours in Aarau. In addition to the woman killed, five other people were injured, some seriously. Revellers fled the venue in panic.
Swiss police are searching for at least one shooter who opened fire at the rave. Such an incident is unusual for Switzerland – despite the country's long tradition of private gun ownership, serious firearms crimes are considered rare.
