Dispute with stones at roundabout in Altstätten

As 20 Minuten reported, on Monday afternoon a group of asylum seekers at the roundabout next to the Landi in Altstätten SG threw stones at each other and onto the road. A reader sent the editorial office a video of the incident.

At 17:15, the St. Gallen emergency call centre received a report that several people on Oberrieterstrasse were involved in a dispute and throwing stones onto the road. A patrol from the St. Gallen cantonal police arrived at the scene a few minutes later and calmed the situation.

The officers found five asylum seekers from Eritrea and Somalia on site — aged 16, 18, 20, 21 and 28. The group told police they had previously got into an argument with another man. This man, a 32-year-old Moroccan, was also found nearby by police and checked.

During the altercation, a 20-year-old Eritrean sustained a minor injury. The other people involved remained uninjured. None of the people involved filed a report, as the St. Gallen cantonal police stated in a media release.
