The DJ of the event, Tekibo, expressed deep concern on Instagram. What had happened was "absolutely heart-wrenching". "Techno and raves should be a place of freedom and safety," he wrote. He announced that he would be taking a break for a while.

The rave took place on the horse racing track in Aarau, which is located roughly 40 kilometres west of Zurich. The organiser had promoted the venue in advance as the venue for the "largest rave in northwestern Switzerland" and expected around 3,500 visitors.
