Dead man discovered at construction site in Biel – Bern cantonal police seek witnesses
On Monday morning, a lifeless man was found at Beaumontweg in Biel. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful; accident and third-party involvement cannot be ruled out.
Lifeless man at Beaumontweg: police investigate circumstances of death
On Monday at around 6.25 a.m., the Bern cantonal police received a report that a lifeless man had been found in the area of a construction site at Beaumontweg in Biel. As Blick reported, third parties and responding emergency personnel immediately initiated resuscitation measures – without success. The man died at the scene.
According to police, there are concrete leads regarding the identity of the deceased, but formal identification is still pending. At the current time, it cannot be ruled out whether an accident occurred or whether third parties were involved.
Under the direction of the regional public prosecutor's office Bernese Jura-Seeland, the Bern cantonal police have launched extensive investigations. Several specialist services as well as staff from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Bern were deployed.
The police are seeking witnesses who on Sunday – particularly in the late afternoon or evening hours – made suspicious observations in the area of Beaumontweg. Information is being accepted by the Bern cantonal police on telephone number +41 32 328 21 31.
