23-year-old cook stabbed to death in Rengo inn; suspect reported to be irregular Venezuelan migrant
A young Chilean man aged 23 died after being stabbed in an inn in Rengo, O'Higgins. The alleged perpetrator is reported to be a Venezuelan in irregular migration status.
Homicide at Rengo inn: victim worked in the premises' kitchen
A 23-year-old who worked as a cook in an inn in the commune of Rengo, O'Higgins region, died after receiving a stab wound to the chest, according to biobiochile.cl. The alleged perpetrator of the attack is reported to be a Venezuelan citizen residing in Chile in irregular migration status.
According to initial information gathered by the Investigative Police (PDI), the victim was of Chilean nationality and had no police record. The incident occurred on Friday night, after the young man's work shift had ended.
Juan Reyes, head of the Homicide Brigade (BH) in Rancagua, explained that the victim began consuming alcohol together with a man of Venezuelan nationality at the end of his shift. In that context, and for reasons that are still under investigation, the individual allegedly attacked the young man with a bladed weapon, causing him a wound to the chest.
The cook was assisted and transported to Rengo Hospital, where he died as a result of the severity of his injuries.
Following the incident, detectives from the Homicide Brigade in Rancagua and forensic technicians from the Forensic Laboratory went to the scene to carry out initial procedures and determine the exact circumstances of the homicide.
The PDI is currently carrying out procedures to identify and locate the alleged perpetrator, who is in irregular migration status in the country.
