According to adnradio.cl, a serious police incident occurred on Friday afternoon in the municipality of Villarrica, in the region of La Araucanía: two women lost their lives in circumstances that authorities are investigating.
Preliminary information indicates that the victims are a woman and her daughter, who allegedly died at the hands of the first victim's partner. Carabineros arrested the suspected perpetrator following the incident.
The regional secretary of Public Security for La Araucanía, Luis Calderón, confirmed that the Public Ministry became aware of the case and ordered initial investigative proceedings. "We have become aware of a serious and, of course, regrettable event in the municipality of Villarrica," the official stated.
Calderón clarified that the crime scene was placed under the care of specialist personnel from the Homicide division of the Criminal Investigation Police (PDI). The Public Prosecutor's Office must provide further details about the sequence of events and the circumstances in which the deaths occurred. "For now everything is preliminary," he emphasised.
