An elderly man was shot dead by unknown assailants in the John Kennedy neighbourhood of Concepción, according to biobiochile.cl. The victim was in front of his home, in the vicinity of Villa CAP and Santa Sabina, when he was approached by individuals who shot him repeatedly.
Family members of the victim transported him to the Regional Hospital of Concepción, where his death was confirmed. The forensic medical examination established that the man had a chest wound caused by a ballistic projectile, an injury that proved fatal.
At the instruction of the Public Ministry, the Homicide Squad of the Police Investigation Service (PDI) took charge of proceedings to clarify the circumstances of the crime and identify those responsible.
José Cárcamo Lepe, of the Homicide Squad in Concepción, specified that investigations are being conducted in coordination with the ECOH team and the Task Force. "Following the field work carried out, it was established that the victim, whilst in front of his home, was approached by unknown individuals who, armed with a firearm, fired multiple shots, injuring him," the official detailed.
He added that "upon conducting the external forensic medical examination, it was established that the person had a chest wound resulting from a ballistic projectile, an injury that ultimately caused his death".
With this crime, the Biobío region has recorded 63 homicides during 2026.
