23-year-old man stabbed to death near ramadas in Limache: PDI investigates brawl or robbery

A Chilean man aged 23 died after being stabbed in a square in Villa Isla Lenox, Limache. The PDI is investigating whether the incident was a brawl or robbery with homicide.

A 23-year-old man died after suffering a stab wound to the chest in a square in Villa Isla Lenox, in Limache, Valparaíso Region, according to biobiochile.cl. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the ramadas in the sector and is currently being investigated by the Policía de Investigaciones (PDI).

On instructions from the Public Ministry, detectives from the Homicide Brigade of Valparaíso and forensic experts from the Criminology Laboratory travelled first to Limache Hospital and then to the location of the assault. The forensic medical examination established that the victim was a Chilean citizen and had no police record.

According to initial information, the young man was sitting in the square with other people when a group of between seven and ten individuals approached them. The situation led to a discussion that escalated into the assault which resulted in the death of the young man.

The PDI is also evaluating the hypothesis of robbery with homicide, given that the individuals involved would have taken belongings from the victims present at the location.

To reconstruct the dynamics of the attack and identify those responsible, detectives are conducting interviews with witnesses, neighbourhood surveys and reviewing security cameras in the sector. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been reported so far.
