64 arrested for homicide in Bogotá: a double murder over a cap and the capture of alias Mueco
According to periodismopublico.com, Bogotá police presented a report of 64 adults arrested for offences related to homicides since 7 August 2026, together with the detention of a 17-year-old adolescent. Among those detained are persons accused of contract killing, femicide and deaths occurring in street brawls in different neighbourhoods of the capital.
Of the 64 adults arrested, 60 are men and four are women. Police made 27 of the arrests in flagrante delicto and the remaining 37 through court orders. Three of those under investigation are linked to alleged femicides.
An altercation over a cap that left two dead
One of the most striking cases in the report occurred in March 2026 in Ciudad Bolívar. According to investigations, a man had allegedly stolen a cap from one of the victims and, days later, a new confrontation took place during a sports event. The accused man allegedly opened fire during the altercation, causing the death of two people and injuring two others. The investigation led to obtaining a court order to arrest him for his alleged involvement in the double homicide.
"El Gordo", from the list of most wanted, fell in San Cristóbal
Another notable operation was the detention of alias El Gordo, who appeared on the list of those most wanted for homicide in Bogotá. Authorities located him in the Guacamayas neighbourhood, in the San Cristóbal district, for a crime committed during a brawl on 15 August 2025. According to police, the man allegedly attacked his victim with a bladed weapon and later travelled to Chile, where he remained for approximately eight months whilst being sought. Upon returning to the country, he was arrested.
Alias Enano, accused of contract killing and drug trafficking
The investigations also led to the arrest of alias Enano in the El Muelle neighbourhood, in the Engativá district. Police accuse him of being an alleged contract killer and of coordinating drug trafficking activities in that area. He is linked to the shooting death of a citizen that occurred in June 2026. Other operations in the report include arrests for an alleged homicide carried out as a contract killing in the María Paz sector and for the death of a citizen during a brawl in Fontibón.
Homicides in Bogotá fell by 8 per cent so far this year
The arrests come in a context in which the District Office of Security reports a reduction in homicides in the city. Between January and September 2026, this crime decreased by 8 per cent compared to the same period in 2025, according to official figures.
Alias Mueco, arrested in Flandes linked to Los Puyicas
In a separate operation, the Criminal Investigation Section of the Cundinamarca Police Department arrested alias Mueco in Flandes, Tolima, identified by the Governorship as Javier Esneider Moreno. Authorities accuse him of belonging to Los Puyicas, a criminal organisation to which activities are attributed in the corridor between Girardot and Flandes.
This organisation has been the target of multiple police operations. In October 2023, police arrested eight alleged members during raids in those municipalities, and in subsequent operations arrests were reported of persons accused of occupying leadership positions or participating in contract killings. Moreno's arrest adds to this series of operations against the group.
Authorities are keeping investigations open to establish individual responsibilities in each of the cases that make up the arrest report in Bogotá.
