Alias 'Moncayo', the most wanted man for the double homicide in Chapinero, Bogotá
The Bogotá Metropolitan Police are searching for Isaac Daniel Rodríguez García, alias 'Moncayo', accused of being the direct perpetrator of the murder of businessman Gustavo Aponte and his bodyguard.

Police seek suspected gunman in double killing outside gym in north Bogotá
The Bogotá Metropolitan Police have added Isaac Daniel Rodríguez García, known as alias 'Moncayo', to the city's most-wanted list, according to noticiascaracol.com. Rodríguez García is accused of being the direct perpetrator of the murder of businessman Gustavo Andrés Aponte and his bodyguard, Luis Gabriel Gutiérrez, which occurred on 11 February 2026.
The double homicide took place at approximately 3:40 in the afternoon, when the two victims were leaving a gym located near the corner of Calle 85 and Carrera Séptima, in the Chapinero district. Both died from gunshot wounds sustained during the attack.
Prior coordination and surveillance of the victims
The Office of the Attorney General is investigating the case and maintains that the attack was planned by a criminal organisation that carried out surveillance, monitoring and logistical coordination before executing the crime. One of the investigative agency's hypotheses is that the target of the attack was another person and that Aponte was mistaken for them.
According to a reconstruction of events, Gustavo Andrés Aponte arrived at the gym after 1:30 in the afternoon, whilst his bodyguard, Luis Gabriel Gutiérrez, remained outside the establishment. Two motorcycles had positioned themselves in the area: one on Calle 85 and another on a corner of Carrera Séptima.
The suspected gunman was on this latter motorcycle, dressed in a suit and tie, an appearance which, according to the case reconstruction, aroused no suspicion in an area with police presence. Before approaching the victims, the accused man reportedly changed his clothing.
The attack and the escape towards central Bogotá
When Aponte left the gym, the suspected attacker reportedly received a telephone call, apparently from the person on the other motorcycle, indicating that the man they were looking for was leaving the establishment.
The accused began to follow the businessman, who managed to walk several metres alongside his bodyguard in the direction of his vehicle. At that moment, Aponte received a fatal gunshot and Gutiérrez was struck by three bullets. Following the attack, the suspected gunman ran towards the motorcycle on Carrera Séptima and escaped with the driver heading towards central Bogotá.
Two arrested, 'Moncayo' remains at large
Two of the suspected individuals involved in the crime remain in custody. However, Isaac Daniel Rodríguez García, alias 'Moncayo', remains at large and is listed as the primary target of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police.
The authorities made an appeal to the public for assistance with information that would help establish the whereabouts of the accused man. Any information can be reported through the official police channels.
The investigation continues with the aim of clarifying the circumstances of the murder of Gustavo Andrés Aponte and Luis Gabriel Gutiérrez, as well as determining the involvement of all suspected individuals responsible for the attack that occurred in the north of the capital.
