An improvised explosive device was located in the early hours of Thursday in the vicinity of the Kennedy Police station in Bogotá. Specialists neutralised it without any casualties.

According to caracol.com.co, an improvised explosive device was located during the early hours of Thursday in the south-west of Bogotá, in the vicinity of the Kennedy Police station and an adjacent Fire Service station at the same facilities.
According to the report, the device is believed to have been left near one of the surveillance points by individuals who were moving suspiciously through the area and who allegedly threw the object.
The device did not detonate. The Police immediately activated the corresponding protocol and deployed specialised units to verify the situation.
Members of the bomb disposal team, Judicial Police and Intelligence arrived at the scene, who inspected the device to establish its characteristics and determine the appropriate neutralisation procedure. Following the inspection, the specialists confirmed that it was an improvised explosive device.
To destroy it in a controlled manner, the units employed a disruptive cannon, a procedure used to reduce the risk associated with the device and protect residents of the sector. Authorities reported that no persons were injured during the operation.
The discovery was made just one day after another incident recorded within the same police facilities, where two handmade devices were reported.
The succession of these events has kept authorities on alert in the Kennedy sector, whilst work continues to establish the circumstances in which the devices were left.
