According to eltiempo.com, the woman who was seen in the company of María Camila Potosí moments before her disappearance in Cali reportedly had links with the criminal gang known as 'Los Santa'. The case has shocked the city and generated a citizen mobilisation demanding justice for the young woman, who was eight months pregnant at the time of her death.

Authorities have arrested five people so far in the course of the investigation. The National Police confirmed the detentions without publicly specifying the specific roles of each of the detainees within the organisation allegedly responsible for the crime.

The mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder, has spoken about the case, amid the social pressure generated by the crime. Potosí's family and various civil society organisations have led marches in the city demanding that all the circumstances of the murder be clarified.

The Ombudsman's Office of Cali and the collective 'It is not a time to be silent' have also accompanied the demonstrations, in which the community demands that the case does not go unpunished. Investigations remain open whilst authorities seek to establish with precision the chain of responsibilities behind the crime.
