Arrest in Armenia of drug-trafficking leader and hitman for "Los Tiguerones" of Ecuador
The Colombian National Police detained in Armenia, Quindío, alias "Colombia", leader of the transnational Ecuadorian criminal organisation "Los Tiguerones", with more than 20 years of criminal history.

The Colombian National Police captured in Armenia, Quindío, the man known as alias "Colombia", identified as a drug-trafficking leader and head of contract killings for the transnational Ecuadorian Organised Criminal Group (OCG) "Los Tiguerones". According to policia.gov.co, the operation was executed by the Criminal Investigation Directorate and INTERPOL (DIJIN), in coordination with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation and the Operational Alliances Group (GRAOS 2), through a search and raid proceeding with a court order.
The detained individual has accumulated more than 20 years of criminal history. In 2011 he was sentenced to 35 years in prison for multiple homicides committed in Ecuador. In February 2013 he escaped from the maximum-security prison "La Roca" in that country, and months later, in September of the same year, was recaptured in Brazil and extradited to Ecuador, where he remained in detention for five years.
The investigations established that alias "Colombia" entered Colombia irregularly in 2022 with the aim of strengthening drug-trafficking activities and coordinating contract killing operations linked to settling of scores. His activities had a significant impact mainly in Cali, Medellín and Armenia.
The evidence gathered by the authorities also links him to the murder of an Ecuadorian citizen that occurred in Medellín in 2022. According to the investigations, the victim was allegedly sent by the organisation itself to replace him within the criminal structure.
At the time of his detention, alias "Colombia" was a fugitive from Ecuadorian justice following his evasion of a non-custodial liberty-restricting measure. The charges attributed to him include homicide and aggravated criminal conspiracy.
The detained individual was placed at the disposal of the competent authority to answer for the crimes imputed to him within the framework of judicial investigations against him.
