Agents of the Criminal Investigation Section (SIJIN) executed a judicial warrant in the La Estrada neighbourhood of Manizales and arrested a 38-year-old man known as 'Osama', accused of the crime of domestic violence, according to policia.gov.co.

The arrested man had previously been charged with the same crime and was wanted to comply with a precautionary measure. Once the warrant was executed, he was placed at the disposal of the competent authority.

The Oral Accusatory Penal System (SPOA) records seven entries in his criminal record: one for homicide, three for personal injury, two related to narcotics and one for domestic violence.

Colonel Mauricio Arley Herrera Luengas, commander of the Metropolitan Police of Manizales, stated: "In Manizales we continue to strengthen prevention, control and investigation actions to address in a timely manner the incidents that affect coexistence and, especially, those related to violence within homes".

The authorities remind the public that domestic violence must be reported and call on citizens to contact the 123 line in situations that put at risk the integrity of a person or a family.
