According to pulzo.com, Bogotá authorities arrested a man identified as the alleged perpetrator of an assault on an elderly man who worked as a security guard in the Modelia neighbourhood, in the Fontibón locality. The incident occurred on 5 September.
The arrest was the result of a coordinated operation between the Technical Investigation Body (CTI) of the General Prosecutor's Office and the District Secretary for Security, Coexistence and Justice (SDSCJ). Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán announced the arrest through his official X account.
"Arrested the savage who assaulted a security guard in the Modelia neighbourhood. As a result of coordinated work between the CTI of the General Prosecutor's Office and the District Secretary for Security, the man who on 5 September assaulted a security guard in Modelia, Fontibón locality, has been arrested. He would not only be responsible for that assault, but would also have threatened another citizen, which is why he currently has a preventive detention measure in place," Galán stated.
The arrested man currently faces a preventive detention measure not only for the assault on the security guard but also for subsequently threatening another citizen, according to official sources from the Bogotá Mayor's Office.
The judicial process is ongoing. The General Prosecutor's Office is holding a hearing to formally charge the detainee for the facts on record against the security guard. The authorities made a call to citizens to report situations affecting security and coexistence through the Emergency Line 123, highlighting the role of such reports in activating investigative processes.
The arrest is part of the 'Bogotá, My City, My Home' programme, promoted by the District Administration with the aim of strengthening security in the capital.
