The National Police arrested five people in flagrante delicto in the Bosa Estación neighbourhood, Bogotá, who carried judicial police uniforms, caps, firearms and false documentation to impersonate agents and perpetrate robberies in residences in the sector, according to pulzo.com.
The operation began when a patrol received an alert from the radio control centre about the suspicious presence of a vehicle in the area. The driver did not comply with the order to stop and attempted to evade the police checkpoint. The patrols activated a lockdown plan—blocking possible escape routes—and intercepted the vehicle a few blocks from the initial point.
Upon descending from the vehicle, the five occupants attempted to flee in different directions. The coordinated response of the uniformed officers allowed them to capture all of them. During inspection of the vehicle, agents found two firearms, jackets and judicial police caps, as well as falsified documentation.
According to initial official investigations, the group intended to use forged search warrants to enter homes in the Bosa sector without raising immediate suspicion among residents.
The arrested individuals face charges for manufacturing, trafficking and carrying firearms, as well as for illegal use of official uniforms and insignia, according to the National Police.
The criminal history of the group reveals their dangerousness. One of those detained has a record for qualified and aggravated theft, homicide, simple kidnapping, personal injuries and domestic violence. Two others have prior convictions for theft, homicide and personal injuries.
The five implicated individuals, along with the seized items, were handed over to the General Prosecutor's Office for corresponding legal procedures.
