An operation by the Immediate Response Command (CAI) Dorado resulted in the discovery of a clandestine vehicle dismantling operation in the El Dorado neighbourhood, in the Santa Fe locality, in the east-central area of Bogotá, according to pulzo.com.
The procedure began when uniformed officers noticed the suspicious behaviour of a man outside a motorcycle repair workshop. When attempting to approach the subject, the individual tried to flee, which prompted a detailed inspection of the premises.
Inside the establishment, which was operating under the guise of a mechanical workshop, agents found ten motorcycles, seven chassis, five engines, multiple electrical components and various car parts. Background verification confirmed that all items had active theft reports against them.
The recovered goods were immediately placed at the disposal of the competent authorities to continue with the investigative process.
1,178 motorcycles recovered so far in 2026
The discovery is part of a broader offensive against vehicle theft in the capital. According to figures cited by Bogotá police, a total of 1,178 motorcycles have been recovered across the city in 2026.
In the Santa Fe locality, auto theft recorded a 20 per cent reduction during the same period, a result that authorities attribute to the patrol, prevention and control efforts deployed from the CAI units in the sector.
The authorities reiterated their call to citizens to report suspicious activities through the Emergency Line 123.
