Colombian police arrested on Friday 12 June in Medellín a drug trafficker of French nationality, identified as Sonner Nusret and known by the nickname "The Frenchman". The arrest came following a search order issued by the Junalco (National Jurisdiction for Fighting Organised Crime) in Paris, according to franceinfo citing a source close to the case.
The arrested man was the subject of an Interpol red notice for "importation and exportation of narcotics as an individual belonging to a criminal organisation". He headed a transnational criminal network that managed to smuggle illicit substances into Europe via sea and air routes, using Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Thailand as transit points.
The operation was supported by the Ofast (French Office for the Prevention of Drug Trafficking). Previously, a joint investigation had enabled the dismantling of part of the criminal structure following the seizure of nearly two tonnes of quinoa impregnated with cocaine in Perpignan, France, during September 2025. The detainee was already known to French authorities for acts related to attempted murder and drug trafficking.
