A 44-year-old man was arrested on 10 September in the municipality of Chipaque, Cundinamarca, after police officers found the bodies of his wife and his 11-year-old daughter inside the vehicle he was driving, according to a report by pulzo.com.
The procedure began as a routine inspection on the road connecting Bogotá with the Eastern Plains. The vehicle caught the attention of officers due to its irregular behaviour on the highway, which prompted its inspection. Upon inspecting it, they found the two lifeless bodies.
The Governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey, confirmed the facts and corroborated the preliminary information provided by the police.

Initial investigations indicate that the double homicide is believed to have been committed on 7 September in Usme, a district to the south of Bogotá. Following the incident, the suspect is believed to have undertaken an extensive journey: first towards La Dorada, Caldas, and then back towards the capital via the Eastern Plains highway, a route on which he was intercepted.
Dionnys Fonseca was identified as the husband and father of the victims. The causes of death, according to information gathered to date, suggest that the woman is believed to have been attacked with a sharp instrument, while the child is believed to have died from asphyxiation.

As a result of the findings, Fonseca could face charges of femicide and aggravated homicide, as the judicial process moves forward in clarifying the facts and determining his responsibility.
The bodies were transferred to the headquarters of the Legal Medicine office, where the corresponding autopsies are being performed.
