Double homicide in Arborizadora Baja leaves two women dead in the street
Two women were shot dead in the Arborizadora Baja sector, Ciudad Bolívar locality, south of Bogotá, in the early hours of Wednesday 23 September, according to semana.com.
The attack occurred just after midnight, when both victims were walking through the area. An armed man approached them and opened fire without warning; the bodies were found in the middle of the street by authorities responding to the call.
Colonel Ricardo Chaves of the police confirmed the facts on Noticias Caracol: "Unfortunately, we received a report of an incident in the Ciudad Bolívar locality, Arborizadora Baja sector, where our coverage area was notified of some gunshots. Upon arriving at the scene, we found the bodies of two women, approximately 45 and 33 years old."
Chaves also indicated that the officers deployed at the location immediately began reviewing security cameras installed in the area in order to identify those responsible for the double murder.
"We are working with our Judicial Police to see what could have happened under these circumstances. There is a main road very close by that could perhaps have been an escape route, but we are verifying. We are also tracing the cameras in order to precisely locate who could have committed this act," the officer added.
According to reports by Noticias Caracol, the two women did not live in the sector; one of them was a nurse by profession.
Both bodies were transferred to the Legal Medicine facilities for the corresponding autopsy, after which they will be handed over to their families for funeral arrangements.
