Three armed men attempted to rob the van of a special forces police officer in the La Francia neighbourhood. Two died and a third was hospitalised in custody.

Two suspected robbers died and a third was injured on Tuesday, 6 October 2026 in the La Francia neighbourhood, Puente Aranda locality, in the west of Bogotá, according to a report by lafm.com.co.
The three men, all armed, intercepted a uniformed officer from the National Police special forces whilst he was travelling in his van. The officer reacted with his service weapon and wounded all three assailants.
One of them died at the scene as a result of the severity of his injuries. The other two managed to board a vehicle that was waiting in the vicinity and fled towards a nearby hospital in search of emergency medical attention.
At the hospital, one of the two men died as a consequence of the wounds received. The third person involved remains hospitalised under medical observation and in police custody.
The Technical Investigation Body (CTI) of the Office of the Attorney General assumed the investigation. Investigators are proceeding with the gathering of testimonies, evidence material and recordings from security cameras installed in the sector, in order to establish the sequence of events and determine corresponding responsibilities.
