SIART drones identify stolen motorcycle in Altos de la Cruz neighbourhood

According to bogota.gov.co, Bogotá Police arrested red-handed a 30-year-old man in the Ciudad Bolívar locality, in the south of the capital, for the alleged offence of receiving a motorcycle reported as stolen. The arrest was made possible thanks to patrolling with drones from the Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems (SIART).

During inspection and control operations, the aerial units detected in the Altos de la Cruz neighbourhood a driver who exhibited suspicious behaviour and attempted to evade police control. Ground patrols responded immediately and intercepted the vehicle.

Upon verifying the vehicle's record, officers found inconsistencies in the motorcycle's number plate. According to the information established, the motorcycle had been stolen on 17 July through the tow-away method.

During the procedure it was established that the arrested person had a record for trafficking, manufacture or carrying of narcotics. The individual was handed over to the General Prosecutor's Office along with the recovered vehicle.

The District Secretariat for Security, Coexistence and Justice clarified in its X account that the man had previously been deprived of liberty and was arrested again after attempting to evade Bogotá Police with a false number plate.

So far in 2026, the support of the SIART Group in operations has allowed for the arrest of 71 people for various offences in the city.
