A retired police officer was sentenced to prison for aggravated forced displacement of ten people, including the family of singer Luis Alfonso, in Antioquia.
Retired lieutenant arrested for displacing family of "el Señorazo" in Eastern Antioquia
A retired lieutenant from the National Police was sent to prison for the alleged forced displacement of popular music singer Luis Alfonso Rendón and his immediate family in the municipality of Rionegro, Antioquia. According to laopinion.com.co, the arrest of former officer Bladimir Alberto Londoño Londoño took place last week, following an order issued by the Office of the Attorney General.
The incident: gunshots and threats in La Cuchilla hamlet
The investigated incident occurred in May 2023 in the La Cuchilla hamlet of Rionegro. According to the Prosecutor's Office indictment, the then-active lieutenant Londoño was drinking alcohol with three friends in a local pool hall when he proposed going to "play a prank" on the farm of the Payanese singer, known in musical circles as "el Señorazo".
The four men travelled on two motorcycles to the property. Londoño, carrying a 9-millimetre pistol from his official allocation, fired nine shots at the door and facade of the house whilst making threats and hurling insults.
At that moment, two families were on the farm: the artist's family and that of a couple of groundskeepers, with a total of five minors and five adults. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras in the area.
First detention and subsequent release
Neighbours alerted the police, who detained Londoño at the scene and confiscated his weapon. He was brought before a court with guarantees control functions on a charge of damage to others' property and was released three days later. Three months later he was dismissed from the National Police for disciplinary violations.
Campaign of intimidation and displacement
Following his dismissal, the file records a series of threatening calls against both families. Londoño gave them 24-hour deadlines to leave the hamlet, threatening them with "a bullet in the head". Both family groups ended up fleeing. One of the minors, who has Down syndrome, suffered serious mental health consequences as a result of the incident.
With these new elements, the Prosecutor's Office obtained an arrest warrant for aggravated forced displacement of ten people. The arrest was carried out by agents of the CTI Antioquia and soldiers of the Military Gaula, with support from the Police, in a public area of Rionegro.
Custodial detention measure
At the guarantees control hearing, Londoño did not accept the indictment. The court ordered an intramural detention measure, that is, imprisonment in a correctional facility.
The full circumstances of the initial incident have not been completely clarified. The authorities estimate that days before the attack there was a cohabitation problem between the former officer and the singer's mother-in-law, whose reasons remain confidential.
Luis Alfonso is one of the most recognised interpreters of popular music and ranchera music in Colombia. So far, he has not made any public statement about the case.
