Fake police officer arrested in Puente Aranda with revolver and institutional uniform
A 55-year-old man was arrested in Bogotá for impersonating a police officer whilst driving a high-end vehicle. He was carrying an institutional jacket and a .32 calibre revolver with three rounds of ammunition.

A 55-year-old man was arrested in the Puente Aranda district, south-west of Bogotá, after being discovered carrying police clothing without authorisation and an illegal firearm, according to semana.com.
The operation began when units from the CAI Santa Matilde police station intercepted a high-end vehicle circulating through a residential area. Upon noticing suspicious movements, patrol officers stopped the vehicle to conduct a routine inspection and verify documentation.
During the search, agents established that the driver was carrying a jacket and insignia for exclusive institutional use, items for which he provided no credential of membership in the Public Force nor any legal authorisation. In the vehicle's interior they also found a .32 calibre revolver with three rounds of ammunition.
Verification in judicial databases revealed that the individual had a criminal record for falsification of public documents and non-payment of child support.
The commander of the Puente Aranda Police Station, Major Camilo Martínez, stated that the subject intended to evade territorial checkpoints by using the police uniform. According to the officer, the arrest occurred when personnel detected the person in a suspicious attitude wearing institutional clothing.
Martínez indicated that "this person is handed over to the competent authorities, along with the firearm and the seized vehicle". The judicial authorities opened preliminary investigations to establish the purpose of the seized items.
The detainee faces charges for unlawful use of uniforms and insignia and illegal possession of firearms. The Metropolitan Police of Bogotá conducted the operation as part of regular patrol activities in the area.
