A man was shot dead inside a vehicle in the Usaquén locality, north of Bogotá, on the morning of Saturday 26 September, as confirmed to semana.com by the Bogotá Metropolitan Police.
The incident occurred on 181st Street no. 11-55, in the Andalucía district, at approximately 09:00 hours. "There was indeed a homicide in the morning hours in the Usaquén locality. The victim died inside a vehicle as a result of gunshot wounds," the institution stated.
The exact circumstances of the attack and the identity of those responsible remain under investigation. Preliminary information indicates that the victim was inside the vehicle at the time of the attack, but the motive has not yet been established nor have the perpetrators been identified.
Authorities will review security camera recordings from the sector to advance in identifying those responsible. The Technical Investigation Body (CTI) took charge of the investigations and inspection of the crime scene. "The CTI assumed investigation and inspection of the scene," the Police specified.
The proceedings should allow for reconstruction of the moments before the attack, establishment of the possible motive and identification of those behind the homicide. Investigators will also have to determine whether the case corresponds to the hit-for-hire modality.
The crime occurs in a context of growing concern over contract killings in the capital. According to figures from the Bogotá Metropolitan Police released in April, Bogotá recorded 265 homicides between January and March 2026, of which 134 were classified as contract killings, representing 50.5 per cent of cases for the period.
