Man arrested with 15 packets of cocaine in Juan XXIII neighbourhood of Montería
The National Police detained a 37-year-old man with cocaine-based substances in Montería. The suspect attempted to flee towards the river upon seeing uniformed officers.

A 37-year-old man was arrested by the Left Riverbank Police Station during patrol operations in the Juan XXIII neighbourhood of Montería, according to policia.gov.co. The alleged offence: drug trafficking, manufacture or possession of narcotics.
Upon noticing the police presence in the sector, the individual attempted to escape in the direction of the river bank. The uniformed officers intercepted him metres before he reached his destination and proceeded to conduct a personal search.
During that procedure, 15 packets containing a substance with characteristics similar to cocaine base and its derivatives were found. The items were seized and the man was arrested in flagrante delicto, with immediate notification of his rights.
In addition to the packets, the authorities seized a mobile telephone valued at approximately three million pesos. The arrested man and the evidence were taken to the Immediate Response Unit (URI) in Montería and placed at the disposal of the competent authority.
Second Lieutenant Juan Benavidez, commander in charge of the Left Riverbank Police Station, indicated that patrol and control operations would continue in different sectors of the city, with the aim of preventing situations that affect security and civic coexistence.
