The National Police arrested a citizen in flagrante delicto in the Las Palmas neighbourhood of Cereté, according to information from policia.gov.co. The reason: illegal possession of a revolver, an offence that encompasses manufacture, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.

The operation was triggered by a citizen report alerting authorities to an armed individual in the area. Police patrols were dispatched to the location and managed to identify the suspect based on the description provided. Upon noticing the police presence, the man attempted to flee.

During the chase, the citizen dropped a revolver on the ground. He was intercepted shortly afterwards and, when questioned by officers, stated he did not have permission to carry or possess the weapon. The officers immediately informed him of the reason for his arrest and made him aware of his rights as a detained person.

The authorities also established that moments before the intervention, the arrested man had allegedly threatened another person with death using the same revolver that was seized. The individual and the weapon were placed at the disposal of the General Prosecutor's Office for the respective judicial proceedings.

Captain Manuel Arteaga, commander of the Cereté Police Station, commented on the operation:

> "The National Police continues to deploy forceful actions against the illegal possession of firearms, in order to prevent incidents that affect the life and integrity of citizens. We invite the community to report promptly any situation that represents a risk to security and peaceful coexistence."

The institution reaffirmed its commitment to citizen security in Cereté and called on the community not to resort to violence or weapons to resolve conflicts, and to report immediately any incident that puts the integrity of individuals at risk.
