Man arrested red-handed stealing copper piping in Montería
A man was detained in Montería after being caught attempting to enter a residence and steal copper piping from an air conditioning unit.

According to policia.gov.co, officers from the Southern Police Station arrested a man red-handed in the vicinity of diagonal 13 in Montería, Córdoba, on suspicion of damage to someone else's property.
The Communications Centre alerted a patrol carrying out preventive patrol duties about a man attempting to enter a residence. Upon arrival, the officers observed him looking through a window of the property, holding a red burlap sack.
Noticing the police presence, the man attempted to flee. The officers intercepted him and, during a search, found two copper refrigeration pipes covered with armaflex material inside the sack. At the residence they confirmed that the access bars showed damage, the window was open and the air conditioning unit's condenser was lying on the floor without its piping.
Captain Germán Eduardo Tovar Arias, acting commander of the Southern Police Station, highlighted his officers' actions: "The National Police maintains a permanent presence in the different sectors of Montería, strengthening patrol, prevention and control efforts. Information promptly supplied by the community and the swift reaction of our officers are fundamental to preventing incidents that affect the safety and property of citizens."
The detainee was informed of the rights afforded to him as a person in custody. The National Police called on the community to promptly report any suspicious activity that could compromise the safety of families.
