A 41-year-old man was detained in flagrante delicto on 29 September inside the Universidad Nacional station of TransMilenio, in the Teusaquillo locality, after attacking a 46-year-old woman with a sharp weapon, according to bogota.gov.co.
Units of the Bogotá Police attached to the TransMilenio service responded to a citizen request and managed to intervene immediately. The arrest was made in flagrante delicto, and the alleged aggressor was placed at the disposal of the competent authority for legal proceedings for the crime of personal injury.
According to preliminary information, the incident is believed to have originated from a dispute between people engaged in informal sales activities within the transport system—at stations or articulated buses. The victim and the arrested individual are believed to have sustained a conflict in that context before the assault took place.
The District Department of Security, Coexistence and Justice confirmed through its X account that the individual was arrested hours after the incident. "The assault is believed to have been caused by a dispute between people carrying out informal sales," the entity stated in its post.
The Bogotá Police made an appeal to the community to resolve differences in a peaceful manner and to report any situation affecting public security through the Emergency Line 123 or by approaching the nearest police officer.
