Bogotá Metropolitan Police detained a man with seven prior criminal convictions after attacking and robbing a victim in the San Antonio neighbourhood.

Bogotá Metropolitan Police arrested in flagrante delicto a 26-year-old man accused of wounding and robbing a citizen in the San Antonio neighbourhood in the south of the city, according to a report by caracol.com.co.
The incident occurred when uniformed officers were carrying out patrol duties in the sector and observed a wounded man pursuing another individual whilst calling for help. The officers immediately began a pursuit and managed to apprehend the suspected perpetrator a short distance from the scene.
According to the victim's account, the attack took place as he arrived at his residence on a bicycle. The arrested man allegedly approached him, intimidated him and wounded him, before stealing the vehicle and his personal belongings.
The stolen items were recovered and returned to their owner. The injured citizen was taken to a medical centre for treatment.
The alleged attacker was handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office, where he must answer for the crimes of theft and personal injury. Authorities reported that the arrested man has seven previous criminal records for crimes related to theft, illegal possession of firearms and drug trafficking.
