A judge overseeing constitutional guarantees ordered the deprivation of liberty in a penitentiary centre for a 33-year-old individual detained in the Colombian capital under accusation of having committed serious sexual crimes against his two underage daughters. The apprehension operation was carried out by officers from Bogotá Police together with prosecutors from Unit 363, specialised in investigating crimes against children and adolescents.
According to what was published by Bogota.gov.co, the case was clarified following a three-month investigation carried out by the intelligence group of the Child and Adolescent Police unit. Investigators managed to gather evidence that would link the father to recurrent sexual assaults that allegedly began when the girls were 5 and 10 years old, extending for approximately five years.
The alleged perpetrator took advantage of moments when the mother was working to carry out the attacks. On certain occasions, he would remove the girls from their school classes, give them sedative drugs to put them to sleep, and then subject them to sexual abuse. When the minors refused, the man beat them and warned them that he would kill them if they told anyone about what had occurred.
The situation was discovered when one of the girls revealed the facts to a female relative. Given the evident psychological deterioration—which included serious behavioural disturbances and, in the case of one of the victims, an attempted suicide—the competent authorities activated the comprehensive care protocol known as 'Código Blanco'.
The detainee already had prior records for violence within the family unit. The District Office of Security is calling on the public to report any signs of harm to minors through channels 123, 141, 155 or to the ICBF.
