A 41-year-old man was arrested at the TransMilenio Universidad Nacional station, in the Teusaquillo locality of Bogotá, after attacking a 46-year-old woman with a sharp weapon, according to pulzo.com reporting based on information from Bogotá Police and the District Secretariat for Security, Coexistence and Justice.
The incident is believed to have originated in a conflict between persons engaged in informal sales within the mass transport system. A citizen report alerted authorities, who responded immediately.
Units assigned to the TransMilenio service arrested the alleged attacker in flagrante delicto and handed him over to the competent authorities to begin judicial proceedings for the alleged commission of the crime of personal injuries.
Bogotá Police used the case to reiterate their call for dialogue and respect as means of resolving differences between citizens. Authorities also urged the public to report any acts that threaten security or coexistence, either through the Emergency Line 123 or by approaching the nearest police officer.
