Man arrested for theft of car parts in San Luis neighbourhood of Bogotá
Officers from Bogotá's Police Force apprehended a 35-year-old man on Monday 8 June at the moment he was removing components from a vehicle located on a public road in the San Luis sector, within the Teusaquillo locality.
The case came to light following a call to the 123 Line. A driver reported that someone was tampering with his car with apparent intent to force it open. The suspect ran when he realised he was being observed. The victim confirmed that a part was missing.
Thanks to the rapid response of a mobile unit, officers managed to catch up with the fugitive. In a search, they found a headlight grille worth an estimated one million five hundred thousand pesos, along with multiple wing mirrors and other spare parts stored in a rucksack.
The detainee has a criminal record for similar offences, suggesting repeat offending. He was handed over to the corresponding judicial authorities to face criminal charges.
