The incident was reported by the radio dispatch centre, which alerted officers to a person with serious injuries resulting from a public confrontation. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found an individual lying on the pavement with multiple injuries apparently caused by a sharp object.
Based on a witness's statement and analysis of video surveillance footage from the neighbourhood, law enforcement deployed a cordon operation that culminated in the arrest of a suspected participant in the attack. The injured man was urgently transported to a clinic, where he ultimately died as a result of the severity of his injuries.
Footage from a camera recorded the moment when the alleged attacker drew the blade and ran after his target down the street, inflicting several fatal blows. Subsequently, the man fled down surrounding streets.
The arrested individual was handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office to answer charges against him. The police institution reported that the detainee has a criminal record for robberies with aggravating circumstances. Additionally, it reiterated its appeal to residents of the capital to report incidents that threaten public safety through the telephone line 123 or by visiting the nearest Immediate Response Centre.
