Brayan Cantillo Ruiz, aged 24, was shot dead in the Santo Domingo neighbourhood of Barranquilla after being lured by a telephone call, according to reporting by eltiempo.com. The young man received five bullet wounds.

According to the Police, Cantillo Ruiz had three criminal records in the Oral Accusatory Penal System (SPOA) for the crimes of homicide, illegal possession of firearms and drug trafficking.

The crime is linked to a previous incident: on 31 May, Fabián Sarmiento was murdered in an incident in which Cantillo Ruiz was wounded. Days later, the young man was fatally shot in what authorities frame within the dynamics of contract killing that dominates crimes in the city.
